First Visit

Please assist us at the time of your initial visit to the office by providing the following information:

Some patients require antibiotic pre-medication prior to their dental visits. Please notify us if you have a medical condition like artificial heart valves, artificial joints, heart murmur, etc.

X-Rays

We will need current periodontal x-rays in order to fully evaluate the condition of your gums and bones. If your referring dentist has taken x-rays, you may request that they be forwarded to us.

Exam

Dr. Adams will complete a full periodontal evaluation at the time of your first visit.  We will need one to two hours to examine your teeth, gums, soft tissue, and the area or areas of concern noted by your general dentist.  We may also measure the "pockets" around some or all of your teeth with a probe to determine how far along any infection or disease has progressed.  This should cause little to no discomfort.

Treatment Plan

After the exam is complete, we will discuss the status of your periodontal health.  Together, we will create a treatment plan to put your gums and underlying bones back in the best shape possible so you can keep your teeth for a lifetime.  By the end of your appointment, you will understand your treatment options and the costs of therapy.  We will take time to explain how to maintain tissue health at home because home care is the key to successful periodontal therapy.

Fees

All fees are payable at the time of service. We accept cash, personal single party checks, credit cards. For your convenience, we also offer a variety of financing plans through Care Credit . Please call our office at (919)772-0314 to discuss your payment options.

Dental Insurance

As a courtesy to you, if you have dental insurance, we will provide a printed claim form so that you may file the claim with your insurance company. You will be expected to pay in full at the time of service and your insurance company will send any reimbursement directly to you. We will assist you in determining your insurance benefits in relation to your treatment plan as requested. Please note that our treatment recommendations and fees are based on your needs, not what your insurance may or may not provide for.

Other Payment Options

Keep in mind that our services usually qualify for reimbursement through your Flexible Spending Account or Heathcare Savings Account as provided by your employer.

General Dentist

Many patients are referred to us from their general dentist. Our office and your dentist will continue to work closely together. If crowns and fillings are needed your dentist will provide them. Regular visits to your general dentist are an important part of periodontal maintenance.

Our office is wheelchair accessible, and we have a wheelchair on-site to assist those with difficulty. Everyone in our office is CPR certified and we have an AED (automated external defibrillator) for unforeseen events.
